Lytestream Electrical were overjoyed to be the electrical contractors involved in the new David’s Bridal store in Braehead, Glasgow. David’s Bridal are a US high end bridal company who have been making an entrance in the UK recently. They are renowned for their beautiful, affordable wedding dresses. In addition to having its own label; David’s Bridal Collection, David’s Bridal have teamed up with world-famous designers such as Vera Wang, Zac Posen and Jenny Packham. This was an opportunity we were excited to be part of.
The lighting in David’s Bridal was specifically designed to a high specification. The front of house was illuminated with spot lights to designated display areas, crystal chandeliers and mood lighting to the main aisles. Changing rooms were designed with LED illuminated mirrors and bright white central lighting to enhance the customer’s visual impact. Back of house contained a seamstress room for in-house alterations and storage and office facilities.
Lytestream Electrical designed and installed the fire alarm system to conform to the current building regulations for Scotland, tested and approved by building control and certificated.
The specialist sewing / alteration rooms had specific requirements, the work stations had to be adaptable and interchangeable with the ability to move locations within the demise, culminating in retractable power supplies suspended from the roof to allow multiple configurations within the room.
The air conditioning system was designed to be locally adjusted but with overall control through the Building Management System remotely monitored from an offsite location.
For the building security, the store would be receiving deliveries in the night after store closure, this meant they needed a fob key entry system that upon entry would disable the alarm and turn on minimal lighting in the required areas and not the whole store. The staff fobs would turn on 50% of the lighting until opening hours and then full lighting would be attained.
Lytestream Electrical finished this project to a very high specification with a contemporary finish. We completed works on time and to budget. The overall finish of the store received a delighted response from American Directors, staff and customers.
