Bannatyne Hotel is a stunning Grade II listed Georgian town house in Darlington. The luxury hotel offers a variety of rooms from standard to executive. They offer an in house restaurant and guests are given complimentary use of the Health Club and Spa.
Lytestream Electrical were the electrical contractors on the Bannatyne Hotel. The existing hotel has been redeveloped to create a new function suite and 16 new bedrooms. The works here involved the supply and installation of lighting, emergency lighting and other electrical works.
The electricity supply position is located on the ground floor within the service cupboard from which all sub-distribution boards are derived. Separate distribution boards are located in various areas to accommodate the local circuits. The main panel board was at full capacity therefore the outgoing circuits were re-organised to create a spare way to supply the function room and a second way to supply a sub-distribution board within the boiler room. The boiler room DB board then also supplies the new bedroom distribution boards located within the adjacent corridors.
The function suite was fitted with general power, lighting, emergency lighting and dedicated supplied from mechanical services. The lighting consists of decorative recessed ceiling lights and wall lights with a special dimming facility. The unit allows various scene sets to be selected to create the correct ambiance. Socket outlets are provided throughout for general use with selected units being fitted with RCD protection and fire alarm shutdown in the event of a fire activation. Dedicated supplies have also been installed for catering equipment.
External lighting is provided with the use of wall mounted lanterns around the perimeter of the function suite operated by photocell control. External lighting is provided with the use of first floor roof mounted floodlights to shine up the front of the first and second floors and ground mounted bollards to illuminate the entrance road. All operated by photocell control.
An emergency lighting system was installed throughout the new areas using self-contained luminaries and 3 hour non maintained fittings. Emergency lighting test key switch facilities have been installed adjacent to the light switch positions.
The existing zoned fire alarm system has been extended to give full protection to the building with a combination of smoke and heat detectors located in all main areas and escape routes. Selective devices are also fitted with sounder bases to give audible warnings.
A disabled toilet alarm system has been provided to the new ground floor bedroom with audible and visual indication in the corridor and at the main reception area.
